rar and par files

hi listers. i have downloaded a bunch of rar and par files that contain dvd's 
and want to know how to get them to play. i have iceows that will extract the 
files that are inside but they don't make any sence and i don't know how to get 
them to play. if you want to write me off list i'm at dennis@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 
i have seen a lot of music files that are also in this format and would like to 
be able to get at those too.
