Dave, You are not going to believe this - but - I can not find the settings for basic, intermediate or advanced. (LOLLOLLOL) I have looked everywhere I can think of. Any hints? If so, try beginner to see if that speaks more information. I think like you and me, and probably everyone else, he'd like to know where he is in the message list--xxx of yyy, as you put it. However, if you're right in your interpretation, it happens I have a solution. When I decide to move a message from one folder to another, I press control-shift-v and arrow or letter down to the target folder. When JAWS speaks the folder name, it also indicates its xxx in the yyy of folders. I know of no other way to get JAWS to verbalize this information in Outlook, and no way at all to get it to do so for the files within a folder. I will try Tom's beginner setting later. Anyway, talk about workaround! -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Farfar Carlson Sent: Wednesday, March 16, 2011 3:43 PM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: number of messages Cy, I'm just curious as to why you need to know the xxx of yyy information in the folder view. Since I use first-letter navigation to find folders,I've never wanted to know where in the overall list a particular folder resides. Am I missing a particular "neat trick" that helps us by knowing that information? I really do wish I could find "where" in the folder I am such as 135 of 402. Insert+tab only gives me what insert+ up arrow does, no numbers. First, I just tried this on Outlook 2003 and it worked. While at the message list in a folder, switch to the JAWS cursor and go to the bottom line. Here the number of messages is read. 2. This doesn't work on my machine, but since insert-3 has stopped working on yours, maybe the change makes this one work instead. Insert-tab ought to tell you not only the number of messages in a folder, but also where you're positioned on that list. I wish this worked here. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mark Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2011 11:28 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: number of messages Running Jaws 12 with outlook 2007. I use to hit insert numpad 3 to hear amount of messages in the folder I was in. Now it does not work. All I changed was the scheme. It has been changed back, but insert does not work.
