network question for windows vista

hi.
tried changing my network location from public back to private.
but in the network and sharing centre.
cannot use my sister's wireless broadband.
when i try ot connect, says the network is taking longer then normal, and 
throws me bac to the pass key or password feild.
so how do i do this in vista.
could not find the customize button with jaws 11.
and now the only way i can connect and use the net is to use my brother-in-law 
broadband cable.
they have a big pond router.
