major problems with say all in new JAWS update

        Hi folks

Well, I updated to the new JAWS release today, and unfortunately, it was a disaster. Aparently, I had missed the last automatic update which, i didn't think i really needed, because none of the fixes didn't really pertain to anything I was doing. So I skipped it. That's where I aparently went wrong. So today, i checked for updates again, and the only one in the list was this newest one, 8.0.1163 Ok, so I downloaded and installed it via automatic updates. The instalation went fine so I rebooted. It restarted ok and I received the regular, JAWS for Windows is ready message. Ok, good so far. Then I went to Internet Explorer. This is where the trouble started. When doing a say-all, insert plus down arrow, JAWS gave me the following error message.

Unknown function call to ismagicrunning. I, s, m, a, g, i, c, r, u, n, n, i, n, g. and then the say-all would read normally, but every time I pressed insert down arrow, i would receive the error message.

Aparently, there is a script in the ddefault set of scripts that checks to see if Magic, the screen magnification software is running at the same time JAWS is. Thinking something might be up, i went into the script manager to see if something may be a miss in there. I went to the list of scripts and atempted to load the is magic running script. when pressing enter on it, I was informed that there was no is magic running script on my system. there was a reference to it in the documentation, but no jss file for it. Ok, so I figure, I'm screwed. I don't have the time nor the inclination to fix it right now, but tomorrow, I fully intend to uninstall and re-install JAWS, and either go back to the version I know works, or directly install the version without using automatic updates. I received other error messages, but the point is, I'm not particularly happy at the moment. So, if you missed the first automatic update, or didn't install it, beware. i really really hope you other guys have better luck than I did. I'll fix this i'm sure, but right now i'm just using an earlier version so as not to get all the error messages.

Thanks.
