You are correct. A formula may not be copyrighted, any commentary, even the typeface or font used are copyrightable, but a list of keystrokes is a formula and not copyrightable. This is also true of cookbooks. The actual formula for a dish and most basic of instructions are not copyrightable, just all the color commentary.
