Re: latest NVIDIA driver crashing jaws

I downloaded the NVIDIA driver, unloaded JAWS and uninstalled the JAWS
video hooks using the narator. I then re-booted, used Narator again to
update the NVIDIA driver and re-applied the JAWS video hooks.

Maybe you could give this a try?

The following problem happened on my Toshiba notebook running windows
XP with jaws 5.00812 running at a screen resolution of 1024 by 768 16
bit colors
I'm wondering if anyone else besides me has had a problem with NVIDIA
display software update released on October 17 2003.
It was a driver for my NVIDIA GeForce4 420 Go (Toshiba) display from
windowsUpdate.
as soon as I downloaded and installed it, needed to reboot the system,
which I let it do.
from that point on, Jaws never spoke a word, although it was running
(according to sighted assistance)
I tried rolling back the driver and doing a full repair on jaws, but
neither had any affect. the thing that finally worked was when I
restored to the restore point the system created before the install.
I'm wondering if anyone has come across this at all.
the old driver (the one I'm still using) was giving me some critical
errors, and I've since loaded jaws 5.00844, but wanted some idea from
others before trying it again as doing the above was a real pain.
Thanks.
Lorne
