Hi, Dave and Michael (who told me the same thing, to the left of the windows
key),
I think you're right...there is an extra key in there, and I'll bet it's the fn
key. Well, you know what they say...learn something new every day.
Thanks!

To the left of your space bar, there should be from right-to-left:

  Alt
  Windows
  FN
  Control.

If not, then you may need sighted help to find the FN key.

Check the Dell web site for your model, and there should be a list of the
function key combinations related to your laptop.

  Dave

    Hi, Michael,
Is the fn key the same as the control key? That's what is to the left
of the windows key on my laptop. But if it doesn't work with the f3 and f4 keys
to control the volume, I suppose it's a moot point!
    Thanks.

            Hi Alice,
The Fn key is located to the left of the windows key. The fn f3
doesn't work for changing the volume, I already tried it. You can use the fn
key with the up and down arrows to adjust the screen brightness.

              Hi, Dave,
What's the fn key, and where is it?
              Thanks.

Probably FN key plus f3 and f4.

                        Hello,
Does anybody know how to change the volume using the
keyboard on a dell inspiron 1525 laptop? The laptop is running windows xp and
jaws 10.
                        Thanks,
                        Michael Rouillard
