Re: laptop monitors

With some newer Dell laptops there is a spot on the front of the case =
near the monitor release catch where a magnet will actuate a sensor in =
the monitor and turn it off. This is how the computer turns off the =
monitor when the lid is closed. Be careful and only use a weak magnet =
and keep it only in the sweet spot where the monitor turns off as =
magnets and hard or floppy disks do not play nicely. You will have to =
figure out the precice location yourself and figure out how to attach =
it, but this at least turns the monitor off on my dell inspiron 2500. I =
disclaim any responsibility if you wipe out anything trying my trick.
