I am probably going to start a fire storm with my suggestion but here goes anyway... When you experience problems that can be traced to the source document (not Jaws), why do you look for a work around. Why don't you address the situation with the webmaster of the site or the creator of the document/file or whatever. It seems to me that if we continue to accept less than adequate products we will never achieve true accessibility Tom Brett US OPM Section 508 Coordinator 202.606.1206 Disabled does not mean Unabled -----Original Message----- From: David Poehlman [mailto:poehlman1@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2004 7:26 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: jaws5 works with Adobe 6 So, what you were saying is that if you try to read pdfs in internet explorer, you had a lot of trouble, now thogh, you don't because they are opening in acrobat reader. I achieve the same thing with a right click and a save target as because unchecking the box made no difference in link behavior for me and many others so I'm happy for you. ----- Original Message ----- From: "JDM" <sunnyday001@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2004 5:52 AM Subject: jaws5 works with Adobe 6 Dale, I have also had a lot of trouble with .PDF files and I also receive and have to send a lot of them. My old computer running Win98 SE, JFW 3.5, Acrobat Reader 4 and the accessibility patch often, surprisingly, seemed to access them reasonably OK. but in recent times, I've had continuous problems with later versions of Windows, JAW's and Acrobat Reader. In short, they were all but entirely inaccessible, even with XP Home, JFW5 and Acrobat Reader 6. But now, after following Tonia's advice on the JFW list, and unchecking the box in Acrobat reader 6's preferences which says something like "run Acrobat in Browser," I've had no problems at all. Thanks Tonia! Acrobat Reader 6 and JFW 5.0 runs a treat! *happy smiles* JDM Australia. -- To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line. -- To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line. ------------------------------- -- Even though this E-Mail has been scanned and found clean of -- known viruses, OPM can not guarantee this message is virus free. ------------------------------- -- This message was automatically generated. -------------------------------mi -- To post a message to the list, send it to jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe from this mailing list, send a message to jfw-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the word unsubscribe in the subject line.
