Well, you don't need to hear a file's extention to know what file type
it is. If you are either in my computer or in windows explorer, you must
choose details on the view menu. Then jaws will tell you the file type
of the file. It will give you all the information about the file: the
size the modification date as well as the file type. But if you really
want to hear the extention as well follow these steps:
Depending which version of windows you're using find the folder options
dialogue either under view or tools.
Then press control+tab till jaws says: view tab.
Then tab till you get an advanced settings tree view.
Type the word hide which will bring you to an option: hide files with
known extentions.
Press spacebar to turn this option on or off. If it's on, jaws will read
extentions as well.
close the dialogue with ok.
But it's not necessary to hear the extention if jaws read to you which
file type it is.

Subject: jaws not reading extentions question

Hello everyone:
does anyone know how can the following be fixed?
if i have a song with a .mp3 extention I noticed that jaws only reads
the
title but not the extentions. How could I fix this? this happens with
software and music pretty much with everything that contains an
extention.
thanks
Juan
