Peter,

Yes, on my desktop I tried to use the laptop layout, but it was not
compatible with my Cakewalk Sonar, so have to stick with the desktop layout.

On my Dell Latitude 630 laptop I use the laptop layout. With an external
full 101-key keyboard the CapsLock key is an alternate JAWS key.

However pressing CapsLock + Windows + F4 on a full-size keyboard is even
harder than Insert+Windows+F4. Takes two hands.

Hi, I use the laptop keyboard layout even on desktop computers. This makes
the caps lock key act as the JAWS INSERT key and you can change cursors etc
using the letters keys rather than having to use the number keypad. It
works much better and I'm pretty sure FS recommend that people use the
laptop keyboard layout on desktop keyboards. I would recommend having a look
at JAWS help to see what keys you can access. The easiest way to change to
laptop keyboard layout is to run the jaws startup wizard from the help menu.

Michael,

That keystroke is supposed to completely (and very quickly) kill JAWS and
simultaneously create a debug file dump for analysis purposes. If you didn't
notice anything, then perhaps you didn't actually hit the Windows key.

I agree with you. Some of these keystrokes actually hurt my 58-year-old
fingers.

Mike mentioned some command of jaws key + windows key + F4. Using the
insert key on the numpad, that's a really difficult stretch. In my
perfect world, the jaws key would be in the middle of the keyboard
right below the spacebar. I hate having to jump all the way over to
the numpad with my right hand and frequently have to move my left
hand out of position to cover a certain key, then have to move both
hands back. Seems so inefficient...

btw, what does this keystroke do? I tried it and heard my computer
make a little sci-fi sound. Figured I'd better do it a second time to
toggle it off, whatever it was.
