Hi Brian when you say hit your power button do you mean the one on your keyboard or the one on your actural computer? if its the one on your keyboard I warn you and this applys to all! I really don't know why but a few months ago i've had problems with my computer alot of the time it just kept not responding well i'm asuming that anyway and so the only way I could turn my computer off was hitting the power button on my keyboard. And surprise surprise eventualy the hole damn thing crashed! I had to get an tech guy to lituraly reinstall everything from scrach! And he said don't hit the power button on your keyboard because I don't know why but he basicly said to shut down the normal way. But the thing is us blind people can't do anything when a system stops for any reason all we can do is hope for the best that it pulls it self together and comes back with speach. Michael what version of windows do you have? I am curious does it happen on windows 7 at all and if you have got that OS what version of it do you have? I myself have a vista home premium that is one of the main reason I wanted to upgrade to windows 7 with my computer because its ment to be better performence is this true?

I've had the same problem on my machine as well. It seems to be happening when I'm moving quickly with the JAWS cursor. JFW just completely stops, along with any sounds going through that particular sound card. The onlyway to get JAWS back is to hit my power button which powers down the system,and then try restarting the computer. I can't even get Narrator to startspeaking. I had someone look at things on the screen, and it's as if JFW isin the system tray, but not resident in memory.
