if you bought the stand alone verson of ghost 9, then you already got what
you need, ghost 2003 should also be on the disk according to one person on
this list.

its much better in my view than power quest, because it does a better more
accurate backup.
power quest failed to backup the jfw key.

i also suspect ghost 9 is less accurate than ghost 2003.

realize many of these so called imaging programs take short cuts.
ghost 9 for example skips the swap file all together to increase the speed
of the backup, so does true image.

many also do not do sector by sector to increase the backup speed.

so some can back up the quella key and some can not.

thats less of an issue with jfw 6.

if you have not bought it first check with symantic to see if ghost 2003 is
included with ghost 9, because i bought it long ago so can not verify this
fact.

its windows interface is super easy, and you can restore in dos using a
batch file, you willhow ever need to create such a file.
that file will vary from system, and for easiest results i suggest using a
slave drive.
that means a seconnd hard drive, though a second partition also works.

here is how it works, it installs a virtual dos partition on your system.
so it even works with win x p using n t f s.

then you can backup and restore in windows, but if windows gets screwed up
then you need to use the batch file.

or you can use the commercial ghost that cost a lot more and a dos screen
reader like jfw, its now free, and a hardware synth.

this program has a switch for making a true image, by true image i mean
sector by sector with the exact same info in the exact same location on the
second drive.

power quest more expensive program alsooffers these features and command
line switches as well.

so one might think if you owned their cheaper program for years and when
they got rid of the switches, one might think they would let you have the
more expensive product if your blind for the same price as the commercial
version, but alas their not that enlightened.

needless to say that was last time i bought or used a power quest application.

their is another program that g w micro recommends, never tried it my self.
will get back when i ask a friend about this one so i can tell you the name
of it.
