Hi Bill, first, thanks for the info you seem to really know your stuff. Can
you possibly explain a couple of things? First why is it sometimes I have
experience a song recorded at 128 kb will sound better than a song recorded
at 320 kb? I downloaded the same song one time one being recorded at 128 kb,
and the other recorded at 320 kb thinking that the 320 kb would be the
better of the two. What factors make a great sounding mp3.
mp3s can differ depending on how they were recorded, software, the speed and
amount of power on the computer recording, the source material, the sampling
rate, the use of error correction etc.

Also do you much
about ogg? Does ogg have different kb like mp3?
ogg is just another format. The general rule of thumb is an ogg recorded at the
same bitrate has better sound then an mp3. A good sounding ogg will be half the
size as a good sounding mp3. More songs for your collection You do have
different kb or bitrate but if you use a ripper like cdex, it will show you the
ogg bitrate as a percentage rather then a kb value. With that particular
ripping software there is little difference between a high and low percentages.
