It's not a JAWS thing, it's a windows thing. Windows automatically hides inactive icons, or rather, icons that you do not use much. It hides these after a certain amount of time as determined by your system. Unfortunately, I don't know if there is any way to change this setting or turn it completely off.

Hi James!

That did the tric. My system tray have now its normal items.
But what is jaws 7 doing with the system tray?
I have used all jaws version on my windows xp pro system since 4.02. And
none of them have changed or made my system tray empty.

Happy new year to all.
Henning

All I had to do to fix this issue in JAWS 7 was to go to the start button, hit alt enter, and go to the start menu tab. Then I told it to unhide inactive icons. Then I saw all my items, including JAWS and all my other stuff that I was not seeing before. It may be something as simple as that...Don't knock it till you've tried it.

Interesting, he can read the sys trey with jaws 6 but not 7, and you say
the
sys trey is not set up right?
I can read some items with insert f11 and jaws 7, but not all the items on
the sys trey will read with jaws seven. With jaws six I frequently get
many
more items than with 7.

No it is not a bug you simply do not have your system tray set up
correctly.
The steps for setting up the system tray correctly were already posted
here
so I will not waist space by repeating it.

Hello to the list.

I have just installed jaws 7.0 and have noticed that my system tray
insert-f11 is empty. When switching back to jaws 6.2 I have 7 items in the
system tray.

Have some of you experienced the same?

Best regards and have a nice day.
Henning
