Hi Judith,

It isn't a problem. You must not have merged your settings into the new
version, that's all, so you have to reset something.

. Anyway, this is part of a function of what Jaws refers to as verbosity.
You're familiar with thatterm, I'm sure. The easiest way to get at your
basic punctuation setting without going into the configuration manager and
its menus is just to put yup the actual interface of Jaws, you know, alt tab
to it if you've loaded it one way, or press Insert J to bring up the
interface if you've set it to load at at startup.

Now open the menu on that interface called Options. Open its submenu
Voices. Open the next submenu labeled Global. Now tab through the list of
settings until you hear "punctuation." this is a combo box, so just open it
with alt-down arrow (maybe it doesn't need the alt key; I forget) and you'll
see that it must be set differently from the level you're familiar with.
Just arrow up or down until the level you want is selected, then tab on to
the OK button and press enter, and that's it. It will begin to speak more
punctuation.

You can of course open the Configuration manager, Insert F2, Configuration
Manager (others will tell you a single key command for reaching the same
thing) and open the settings menu, and arrow down to find the verbosity menu
to explore. But this is advanced compared to the basic thing you should do
at this moment.

Hope that helps.

Well, I just installed jaws 7 and it is working except for one problem. On
jaws 5.1 jaws spoke all the punctuation but its not speaking that now. Can
someone send me the instructions to get back the punctuation? Thanks,
Judith
