My computer goes into standby a lot and since I went to XP home have
seldom had a problem with Jaws when it happens.

standby causes a lot of problems with jaws, best thing to do is just
disable
it. I've never had a computer yet that could come back from standby with

jaws working as it should and I've had quite a few computers.

I occasionally experience this problem after leaving the computer in
stand-by
mode for a number of hours. Sometimes the windows key plus D command
fixes
the
problem but just tonight, forinstance, I had to restart the computer
before
the
items on the desktop were spoken.

Try shutting down Jaws and restarting it. This usually worked for me
when
5.0 did it.
