Yardbird,
It's been necessary to use the command line repair for jaws for the past few
versions of jaws.
For example if you have the jaws latest build already installed and no
previous base builds it is not possible to simpley press enter on the
executable and get the repair modify remove prompt rather jaws will tell you
that there is already of version of jaws running on your machine, and the
install wizard will exit.
However, if you've started with jaws 9.0.515 and upgraded a few builds you
may get the repair option however chances are it will not successfully run.
Lastly, if you're running 2169 and you run a previous build to run the
repair you'll get the repair option, however, this is not a proper way to
run an install/ repair as you'd be repairing a current build of jaws with
previous scripts and shared components.

Matt,
if he knows just where that file is, and he already used it to install Jaws
in the first place, why shouldn't he do what I, for instance, always do in
this case? Just navigate to the file whose location he already knows, please

note, and just press Enter. That's all I do. It is what you're supposed to
do. Why all these steps you're describing? Are they meant to be a workaround

of some sort? If so, a workaround to avoid what sort of obstacle? Are you
just presupposing that the person doesn't know anything about the very file
they already have used to install the program, doesn't know where it is, and

that's why all this? I'm puzzled. hanks.

If you still have the executable file on your computer Move it to an easily
accessed location such as the local disk c or desktop.
Then press windows R for run, and shift tab to the browse button. Brows to
the .exe file and press enter on it. This should place you on an open
button, but we don't want to press enter just yet. Shift tab once and you'll
see the path of the executable file, press the end key and then a space bar.
Ttype the following
/type repair
Press enter, and you'll receive a dialogue asking if you want to run this
file press alt r to run it and your repair is under way.

Subject: how do I repair jfw 9.0

Hi all, installing stuff on my new laptop and all of a sudden jaws says
something about the display driver and I need to do a repair. It's jfw 9,
the very latest one and I can not figure out how to do a repair on it. Can
someone tell me how this is done? apparently they decided to make it harder
than just running the install file again and I'm not figuring this out at
all. thanks
