You don't even need to use WinKey, you can create a shortcut yourself and assign a hotkey to the shortcut. Minimize to your desktop and press f5 to unselect any item on your desktop. Press the right mouse button and enter on new. Enter on shortcut. Type in "SHUTDOWN -s -t 01" without the quotation marks and click NEXT. Now type in a name a for your shortcut. You can name it anything you want then click finish. You will now have a new> icon on your desktop with the name you gave it. Press alt enter on the icon and tab and give it a shortcut keystroke. When you want to shut down your computer just press your hotkey. Use the switch -r for restart instead of -s for shutdown. the -t 01 tells it to shutdown immediately. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Salvas,Michel [NCR]" <Michel.Salvas@xxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, April 12, 2006 9:30 AM Subject: Re: hotkey for shutdown? Hi, Steve and all, There is an executable file for which you can create a shortcut key: shutdown.exe If you're using Windows XP, you can find it at the following location: C:\WINDOWS\system32\ There, you can create a shortcut key for this executable file using a small porgram called Winkey with the parameter -s for Shut down and -r for Restart. If you don't already have the program, You can download it for free at the following address: http://www.jfwlite.com It's very easy to use.
