hotkey for shutdown?

hello list

can anyone suggest a way to have a hotkey created that will enable me to press 
and have the pc shutdown instead of going through the start menu?

this is mainly for when jaws stopped speaking and i have no other way to shut 
down except for pulling the power supply.
