Hello gentlemen. You may already know about this device, but if you
don't, you should. It's a little usb adapter, about the size of your
thumb, which plugs into a usb port on one side, and provides microphone and
line out jacks on the other. It's made by C-Media, and it's a great way to
add additional sound cards to an existing system. If you're like me, you
really like having speech come out of one set of speakers, and audio, i.e.
music and multimedia stuff, come out another. I've heard these devices
have existed for a while, but I've not seen them before. Recently I picked
up three of them, and they work as advertised. As I type, I'm getting
speech through the onboard sound card on the system, and listening to music
piped through one of these little dongles. My plan is to use them as
adjunct audio cards, carrying one with me with my laptop to allow me to do
audio editing, multiple audio streams, etc.
I think these will work fine with Total Access or SAtogo, and if folks
are concerned about having a sound card to use when they use guest
computers, this might be a solution you can recommend.
I bought mine from the guy who runs the web site referenced below.
I've bought stuff from him before, and he's knowledgable and reputable. He
runs his store out of Scottsdale Arizona.
