Look in the verbosity list with insert v and see if you can find something
in there to change.

I am using JAWS 6.1 on Windows XP system.

While doing mail merge in Office XP: When in-putting data in an individual
record, as a character is typed in, JAWS echoes the field name between each
character as typed. I tried changing JAWS from character to words but it did
not help. Suggestions, please.
