yes unless you do a save as and change the file name. So for example if you open chapter 1.doc and make changes and then do a save as then a dialog open showing you the file name that you have opened and made changes to. You would then either save it with the same file name where then you will receive a message asking if you are sure you want to replace the original file. Or you could change the file name say for example chapter1A.doc. Then the original would not be altered and there would be a appended file with the newest changes you make.
