dialogue boxes

can anyone tell me a simple straight forward way to get out of a dialogue box
I have tried most things,but still hear "a dialogue box is still open,so fed up
have I been I force the computer off with button, only to have it tell me off
later and suggesting I let it work in safe mode, this only happens using Jaws
11 Ms outlook office 7 and windows 7 many thanks Dorothy
