Both Openbook and Kurzweil 1000 are bad at leaving stuff behind.

good suggestions here. you may still have some stuff hanging around, but
when I have had issues with application install, I have found that doing a
sweep through the registry like this will almost always fix the problem
although I have not had these issues with jaws. I have had them with open
book for instance the installer swearing there was another folder for
openbook on the drive when there was not till I zapped the registry.

One way around this is to search for Freedom Scientific, Henter-Joyce, JAWS,
and JFW in your registry. You can delete any occurrence found in the
registry. If you're not too comfortable doing this, leave it be and just get
rid of the folders JAWS puts in your computer after you uninstall JAWS. Make
sure to remove your key properly before uninstalling JAWS. If you don't, a
key will be lost.

No, I am not talking about removal of the authorizaation key. I am talking
about complete removal of Jaws from the hard drive. Even if you uninstall
jaws from the add/remove I believe there is still something related to jaws
in the registery.
