Re: can pdf files be converted to text?

Yes and Yes.

First, you can get Adobe 7 and use it with JFW 7. It is a freebie.

Some docs will allow you to convert them to text, but you might lose some of the formatting in doing it. There are many options in Adobe Acrobat Reader to control its behavior; I think in my version which is older, you press control-k to get into it. There are twelve different groups; most of what you will use is under accessibility and display options.

Subject: can pdf files be converted to text?

I don't know how to read PDF files and I see them a lot when trying to research something on the Web. Even my daughters' school calendar is now set up that way so I can't read it. I am using jaws 7 and 6.20 depending, and XP home. Is there a way to convert PDF documents to plain text so I can use normal Jaws commands? If not, is there some sort of Adobe or PDF tutorial available? Thanks.
