blank lines and jaws

I just got a new police scanner. It is a really neat toy. I downloaded the manual in pdf format and used the save as txt. then I renamed it to a dot doc file so I could listen to it in word pad. There are a bunch of blank lines in it. How can I find and remove these blank lines. It would work better with jaws as we would not have to hear "blank blank. You would figure some one is cursing. blankety blank blank.
