Joanne, When jaws goes away like this, try pressing alt+ctrl+delete with narrator running and see if it is in the list of running processes. If it is, end the task and see if you can bring it up. AS for saving your settings, all you have to do is to copy the jawsxxx\settings\enu\ folder or specific files from it into a temporary holding place before reinstalling or repairing and then youcan copy them back. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joanne" <houseofmusic3345@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: "jfw" <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, July 11, 2004 8:55 PM Subject: back to jaws not coming up when i click on it I mentioned a few days ago that often lately Jaws will stop when I'm in the middle of some programs; no matter what I do it won't come back up--using hot key, going to desktop and hitting j, etc. All other aps work so computer doesn't freeze altogether. The only way to get jaws back is to re-start. I followed your suggestion and turned on Narrator and whenever I tried bringing Jaws up Narrator never saw it. I could alt-tab and it read "outlook express" or "internet explorer", etc., but Jaws was nowhere for Narrator to see it. Today it happened (and this is not a first) when I unloaded Jaws and re-loaded it. I have XP home and both Jaws 4.51 and the 5 update. If Narrator can't find Jaws what do you think happened to it? And I so hope you won't say I have to repair because I still can't figure out how to save my settings (like dictionary, which I worked so hard to change). Thanks for any feedback.
