I have to agree with Chris. The topic is much more suited to the MIDI-Mag
list, and since you are now starting on the quest to do recordings, you
should join that list and take advantage of their audio recording expertise.
We are the JAWS experts (so-called) and just happen to have a few listers
who are also audio aficionados.

This is a Jaws question??
Does anybody know if there is a list for Audacity users?
Or, maybe consider joining Midi-mag, a list full of blind musicians,
recording types etc. Or, the pc-audio list.
