YardBird,

Another blind person gave me the address the other day after I placed a
order on Amazon. I can't vouch for it personally. I gave it to Marissa in
hopes it would help her.

Rick,

Here is a address? Okay. Look, that address you gave isn't equal to the
real Amazon site in a number of ways. It was not designed for the sake of
the blind, for one thing. It's just to make it easier for people with tiny
screen devices like pDA's to use the site.

The main thing, is that it isn't kept current with the real site, so that
new developments of various sorts, whether product introductions or price
changes, are kept current. Another difference is that when you get listings
and prices, nothing is mentioned about free Super Saver shipping, so you do
without that nice savings for the sake of using this stripped-down site.
The real Amazon site may have a lot of links and features on it that make it
uncomfortable for a screen reader user, but there are methods we all figure
out for navigating its pages to find what we want and buy stuff, using
screen readers. If you have specific questions about navigating Amazon, you
should definitely post the questions here, and you'll get useful advice from
many listers.

Hi Marissa,

I used Amazon the other day to order a voice recorder. The site is pretty
much accessible with JAWS, I use JAWS 7 and the only problem I had in
placing my order was when I setup my account and had to verify my password.
The form is a bit messed up but I soon figured it out and successfully
placed my order.

Here is a address I was given a day or two ago with a way to access Amazon
for Blind or visually impaired people .

http://www.amazon.com/access

I hope this helps you out.

Rick

  Hi everyone,

I don't know if anyone has encountered this problem, but amazon.com is no
longer accessible with Jaws. They have some sort of flash movie when you log
on to the site. It makes it virtually impossible to search and find
anything. Is anyone else having this problem? I am thinking of starting a
petition to enact some change. They have changed their page many times over
the last few years. Unfortunately, not for the better!. Please e-mail me off
list if you are interested in my proposal for the petition. at
