alt tags for images not being seen by JFW in .doc files

Hi folks,
I received an inquery to which I didn't have a constructive response. It seems 
that this person has noted that the alt tags for images are not picked up by 
JFW when the document is formatted as a .doc file. but as an 
htm file, of course, they are. Is there anything he can do so that JFW will 
pick up the alt tags when the file is in .doc format? Thanks.
