Which version of JAWS are you using?  With 5.0 and above, key repeat is on 
by default.  IF it isn't on in your version, just go to the configuration 
manager and select to set user options.  Then, tab until you get to the key 
repeat option and make sure it's checked.

I know there is a jaws option that will allow a key to repeat its action 
when held down, e.g. letting the backspace bar in word deletelots of 
characters on one press. I forget how to activate this.
