If you run win98, jaws still requires you to toggle the echo to all for good
access to console applications such as telnet and the cygwin environment.
However, if you use winxp, you can keep the echo to highlighted and jaws will
read practically everything on the screen. Jaws still has some problems either
clearing it's buffer or this may be problems related to clearing the screen from
the windows api. For example, when I exited out of cygwin, jaws still spoke
some cygwin info when i put focus on another application. A disterbing note
about jaws and focus reguarding text editors:
I was unable to place focus from the window of my text editor back to jaws by
using alt-tab. Could have been anything that caused, maybe some background
process, I wanted you to be aware of it. When alt-tabbing from my editor,
called pfe32, jaws did not read the title bar or menu bar of jaws but of my
editor. However when I went to close what I thought was pfe32, jaws gave me the
quit jaws for windows dialog. My focus would read pfe32 twice eventhough I only
had one instance of this program open. I don't know if this is a re-producable
error, just wanted to make you aware.
