I think I get the idea, though of what you were trying to tell Hank. Allow me to rephraise with proper english grammar what I think you meant. I actually suggest that you use the following antivirus protection applacation: 
AVAST ANTIVIRUS.
you don't   need to    purchase  a license.
it's totally  free.
all you have to do is:
visit:
http://www.avast.com
and navigate until you reach   download avast antivirus 4.0.
note:
if you visit the site and find  purchasing information, don't be surprised.
it depends on whether you get the free or the pro version. The free version, obviously costs nothing. 

note:
the professional edition  requires you to be authorize.

I am not sure about   vista.
once it has been downloaded.
go a hedd, and register it for one year.
after that period of time, all you need to do, is register again for free.
note:
You have 60 days to register for free, whilst the program is in trial mode.
Be sure to do it  before  this limited time  expires.

how to register:

it's efficient and easy, just visit the register link of the avast website.
and fill out the registtration form.

which is just basic information that they need.
IE:  you're name,  you're email, etc.

once you are dun, click the register button!.
next, you'll receive a registtration confirmation!.
This confirmation will contain your registration information that you need to register Avast. coppy you're license code to the clipboard, and then paist it into the 
program, when requested.
 note:
you may need sighted assistance when you do this operation.
