Hi Rosemarie:

Yes your 4.51 authorization key will work on 5.0 and 5.1.
Remember that you are entitled to use 5.1, which was a free update from 5.0.

Hi, Wayne. Wow, I just finished writing to another Wayne. He's on the music list I also belong to.

Actually I have Jaws 4.51 and Jaws 5.0 was the free upgrade from 4.51. If the authorization key for 4.51 works with5.0, I'll go ahead and install it. Thanks for your help.

Hi Rosemarie:

If I remember correctly, you said you have JAWS version 5.0. If so, install version 5.1 of JAWS, which was a free update from 5.0. Your Authorization key from your current version will work with 5.1. This should make a difference in your internet surfing.

Rosemarie,

I also have no problems with the NBP website. If I remember correctly, you're using JAWS 4.5. One of the reasons why JAWS must be continually updated is that the Internet is constantly changing. From what you wrote earlier, you seem to know how to handle shopping cart and other Web pages. That tells me your old version of JAWS can no longer handle many routine Internet functions.

As another list member acknowledged, you may have difficulty affording JAWS updates through the SMA (software maintenance agreement), but there may be no alternative for accessing the Internet. I'm not defending web designers who fail to honor accessibility standards or FS's SMA pricing policy. But for me, the Internet saves me the cost of readers in so many areas, from research to shopping, that the SMA pays for itself. That doesn't make the money appear out of nowhere, but it may help in making a realistic assessment.

Unless they recently changed there site in some way, I have not had a problem in ordering from NPB. The site is very speech friendly and very accessible.

At 09:14 PM 11/15/2005, you wrote:
Hi, everyone. Has anybody ordered anything from National Braille Press online? I did all right until I got to the complete order button. I hit enter on it and it said the information wasn't proper. I know for a fact that it was because I highlighted where it says "master card" and hit enter on that too. I can't even get a hold of my instructor to ask her what to do because she buys stuff from National Braille Press online al the time. I'd appreciate any helpfull hints somebody could give me. Thanks in advance.
Rosemarie
