RE: WordPerfect 12

We've not had much experience trying to do that; but, when we have it
has worked equally poorly. That is, very simple documents will convert
ok, but as you begin using the complex features things begin to convert
less well.

If it's just being able to read the text, that often comes across ok,
it's the formatting that usually fails first. And of course, there's a
free Word viewer, which you can use to just copy and paste the text from
the Word viewer into a WP document.

Going through RTF as an intermediary format will sometimes work best
when you need to preserve the formatting, but it too can fail on the
most unusual advanced features (the ones which just aren't present in
all word processors).
