Go to View (Alt-V) and then "T" for the "Tool Bars." Be sure only
"standard" and "formatting" are checked. Also, be sure the Task Pain is
not checked.
That will help lots.
Check this periodically. Word has a tendency to change its mind about
what it displays.

Subject: Word problem

I have word 2002 and jfw 4.51 running on an xp pro machine. When word
launches, Jaws announces "tables and borders, one half" and jaws find it
difficult to read some of the lines of the file I open -- some lines and
parts of lines simply disappear. I've tried going through the view menu
etc setting the view to normal and zoom to one hundred per cent. Any
thoughts gratefully accepted.
