Thanks everyone.  I'm afraid none of the suggestions have worked so far.
Changing the view doesn't help.  Not able to copy to a new document or
Notepad.  I did save it as html and opened it in IE but got gibberish.

I wonder why I can review the text with the JAWS cursor but not read it with
the regular cursor.  BTW: I get the same results with WindowEyes.

I'll have to ask the author to resend me the document in plane text if
possible.
