Hi, while you can get to the synonyms list with the application key, this barely gives you any words to choose from. It's nothing compared to what the thesaurus gives. I've been told that the thesaurus isn't very accessible with word 2003 though. After messing around with it, I found that if I hit the applications key and arrow down or strike the Y key the thesaurus comes up and a list of possible words. Thanks so much for helping out.
