Hi Dan
Your questions, and then my answers...

can you set such a marker, then completely
stop (not pause) play, and have the marker still there when you start
playing the file again?

Yes you can, it's very easy, just set your time marker at a specific point and it'll stay there til you remove it with another keystroke. You can have as many time markers in a file as you need to, and they can even be exported to send to a friend who may have the same files.

And what if you exit the program? Will the markers
still be there if you can play the same file?

Yup, if you close the program an open it up and then play the file again, the time markers will still be there. They stay til you remove them yourself.

And are we talking about a
streaming file (which I assume you can't modify like this) or an .mp3, like
a podcast?
It'd be more like a podcast, because a stream is downloaded as it plays, so it would make no sense since you can't go back to a specific point in a streaming file.
and don't worry, your questions were good, they made perfect sense.

Hi. Actually, the most recent release is version 5.31. it can be gotten from

http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/client/winamp531_full.exe

Here's the scoop about Winamp and JAWS. To date, all of the versions
in the 5.x series work just fine, accept for the newer versions of
the media library. But that may change in the future. For now, you
can download some scripts from the jfw lite home page at
http://jfwlite.com/programs that wwill help.

But don't worry about upgrading. 9 times out of 10, the new version
hasn't had any significant changes to the actual look or interface,
all the changes usually happen inside the actual program, so there's
no need to worry.
