No one from FS monitors this list, or at least admits to doing so. On the
other popular list, Jaws Lite (not to be confused with Debbie's defunct JFW
Lite list), at least one prominent FS figure subscribes, reads and
occasionally posts helpfully, and that's Eric Damery.
So if you want to communicate with FS in an indirect way with such a plaint,
you might subscribe to that list as well. I can dig up the subscribe
address if you ask me privately. Or better yet, why not just report
something like this directly to the appropriate department at FS itself, by
going onto the site and finding the suitable contact info?

Yes! enabling legacy support causes JAWS 7.1 to display html tables as it did in 7.0, rather than as in 7.1 without legacy support. I was going to explore the Document Presentation options, to address this. But, now, I think I'm just going to rely on legacy support, until such time as I find an actual (not potential) problem with it.

I had previously read the warning that, with legacy support enabled, some
web features might not work properly. But, as you suggested, I can't find
any description of which features, etc. I rather suspect legacy support
may resolve some other web behaviors (differences between 7.1 and 7.0)
that are annoying me. I wasn't going to play with legacy support, because
of the warnings. But, now, I think I may just go ahead and use it by
default, until and unless I find a situation where it does create a
problem (I haven't found any, as yet, and I've found this (and possibly
other situations where it actually help.) Sounds reasonable?

Okay Dana, I think I can tell you how to get it back. But I have heard this isn't a good idea to do on a permanent basis. Please don't ask me to explain why because nobody ever really explains it, they just say it's not a good idea, smile. But...with that said. Go to configuration manager in IE and go to the HTML options, misc. page. Check the checkbox for use legacy support. Save your changes, y ou might need to restart jaws. I'm complaining about the absence of a blank line immediately above the
heading, not below. I used to have one there, with 7.0, and don't, with
7.1.
And, without a blank line above the heading, I think it's rather
confusing
to tell where one track listing end and the next heading begins, while
quickly reading through the list, with the arrow keys.

description explains it well. I have only one memory to draw on of a
similar page navigation situation where lack of blank spaces the way

heading and the track listing immediately above, there is no longer a
blank
line, as there used to be with 7.0. I find this a bit confusing, when
reading through the discography with the up and down arrows, and not
just
jumping from heading to heading. I'd like to revert to the 7.0
behavior,
if
I can figure out how to do so.

Dana, I don't remember that being in configuration manager. The jaws help says for example: When reading a Web page with the Virtual Cursor, JAWS places each link on its own line, even if the document visually presents the link on a line with other text or additional links. Tables. JAWS reads the cells in order from left to right and behaves as if each table cell begins on a new line. So jaws doesn't ever actually change the way the page is displayed except for the way it "interprets" and "stores" it in the virtual buffer. Could you be thinking of documentation presentation? Screen layout versus simple layout? (insert V dialog). Both 7.0 and 7.1 say JFWLite Home Page (heading 1) followed by Programs Page. Debbie

I remember that, when I initially looked through the new Configuration Manager, I found a section to control whether HTML links are each displayed on a separate line (as has always been the case, up until 7.1), and whether cells in a table are each displayed on a separate line. Also, I don't remember seeing a control for this, but does anyone know of one: Previously, there was always a blank line above any header, in an HTML document. Now, in 7.1, headers follow immediately upon the previous text, with no blank line in-between. I'd like to restore the previous behavior, and regain those blank lines. does anyone know how to accomplish this?
