The jaws key is the key that is used in conjunction with other keys to
perform jaws functions for instance, if you are using a desktop keyboard, it
will default to the insuert key on the numpad which is the largest key on
the numeric keypad. Some times, it is specifically set up for this key
although there is another insert key on your keyboard. If you are using a
laptop, it may be the caps lock key instead of the insert key on the numeric
keypad or its twin on the six pack. If you turn on jaws keyboard help with
jawskey+1 on the numbers row, you can figure out which key functions as the
jaws key. if insert+1 does not work, try capslock+1. On some laptops, you
can set another laptop mode which will cause the jaws key to be the right
shift key I think. There are still other keyboards that allow you to have a
different jaws keya nd that is why it is called the jaws key. We used to
see it refered to in instructional materials as the insert key but that was
changed due to its alternate placement on different keyboards. Now, having
said all this, if you don't like the jaws key you have, it is possible to
change it in keyboard manager.
