Jack, You mean that word with the a and the e was in that message and this is what did it? Well, I couldn't have dreamed of anticipating that as I began to let Jaws read the message. I even took the trouble to press alt enter before opening the message, just to ascertain that it was at least from this freelist mailing list, not some unsubscribed spammer. the return path was this list and server, so I thought, sure, it's got to be an earnest message. Which it was, if a little badly thought out. Why are people making such a self-righteous fuss over how alert we should be to the seven danger signals of potentially troublesome email messages? And this had nothing to do with attachment, so all those references are beside the point anyway. Jeez. Why can't people be a little sympathetic and put the blame where it belongs. Just a strong suggestion. I agree Robert, I didn't even read the original message because I had a funny feeling that the offending crash word would be there. It's not like this is news. Has everyone been reading all of the posts about this over the past few days? How could anyone have missed all of the talk about that word. I'm not going to blast anyone, but folks, please read through all of the messages you have from this list before sending stuff like this through. This whole thing could have been avoided. Jack ----- Original Message ----- From: "Robert Hebert" <roberthebert@xxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, March 09, 2005 3:10 PM Subject: Warning but this won't crash your system! When people send a warning to the list, please don't send the very message you are warning about. Separate the offending text with spaces and/or commas or both but please don't be so idiotic as to crash everybody's system. Remember there are likely many folks on the list who might find it very difficult to get Jaws up and running again. I hope the next time someone does this the moderator will deal with them very severely. After all, what's the point of getting a warning if the warning itself is going to accomplish exactly what you are warning against?
