Hi everybody, I was going to send these instructions offlist, but given that
several people need them I thought it would be easier to post to the list. The
instructions are below.
                    John.

We need to find the code of the speech engine on the system then match

it up to the correct frequency in a JAWS file. It's a bit fiddly, but

could you do the following please:

1. Go to the Start menu, then Run.

2. Type "regedit" and press Enter

3. On the treeview, arrow down to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and press the right

arrow.

4. Arrow down further to SOFTWARE and press the right arrow again.

5. Do the same for Microsoft, then Voices, then Tokens.

6. In Tokens, look for the required speech engine. I'm not sure what it

will appear as in this case, but it should be something with the voice name in
it, Paul or Kate or whatever..

7. When you've found the right one, press Tab.

8. Arrow down to CLSID and press Enter.

9. Press Control+C to copy the long "value data".

10. Press Escape then Alt+F4 to exit the Registry Editor.

11. Press the Start key, then go to Programs, JAWS, Explore JAWS,

Explore Program Files

12. Arrow down to SAPI5x.ini and press Enter.

13. Press Control+End to get to the end of the file, then press Enter

for a new line.

14. Press Control+V to paste the CLSID number. Place [] brackets around

it, for instance:

[{9892E74A-B96D-4747-9D2A-87646C3D9E4C}]

15. Then on the line below, type the following:

Output=23 [or whatever number applies to the frequency of your voices. The
settings you can find in your sapi5x.ini file.

16. Then save the file and exit.

17. Change the voice back to Eloquence, then restart the computer.

18. When the computer has restarted, change the voice to one of the neospeech
voices and see

if it has changed.

Hi Michael, yes you can use your neospeech voices with jaws. They will appear
in the list of voices when you change your jaws synthesizer to sapi5. You may
notice though that the voices don't sound happy, they may sound lispy and/or
crackly. This is because Jaws needs to know the frequency of the voices.
To do this you need to get the cls id number for each of the voices, which
involves going into the registry, and then pasting that number into your
sapi5.ini file, which will be in your jaws folder.
If you'd like I can send you step by step instructions how to do it, but if
you're not happy editing the registry you may need further help doing it. If
you want the instructions let me know offlist.
                       John.

    Hi All,

My Kurzweil 1000 software already comes with the Neo Speech engines. It
has both the male and female voices. is there any way to get these to work
with Jaws? I found the folder that contained the Neo Speech files but I'm not
really sure how to get Jaws to use these. .

    Michael
