To the original poster. Linda, I think:
Just to reassure you, I have Windows XP Home and use Word 2000 and, so far
as I know, there aren't any compatibility issues at all. The problem must
be something specific to your own setup, and I hope you work it out. But
just so you know that Word 2000 and, I presume, Office 2000 overall, isn't
at all a problem with XP. So far as I'm aware, that's a perfectly normal
combination.

It stops at 40% to for me, it usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes to get off
that 40% and I have office XP. it does eventually go though so maybe you
could try that again?

Hi,

When I think about Word, I can remember the nightmare when I was in
Cathyanne's class and word totaly bit the dust. I am using home xp and
tried to install office 2000 and now when I try to open word, I get a
"send-do not send error. When you chose to send an error report, Microsoft
doesn't bother to respond to you directly so now I have a question. Is
office 2000 compatible with windows xp home? I tried to read the generated
report and from what I could tell, there was an incompatibility issue. It
suggested opdating my office software and when I did that, I was told to
wait to check what update I needed and the check stopped at 40 percent. So
now I have a totally screwed up office 2000.

Which version of word? Are your display settings set to the recommended
settings posted at the jfwlite site or found in the jaws help system? Did
you
try changing your screen resolution? Did you run the display chaining
manager
for jaws and install jaws into the other display? That last part is only
necessary if you have two devices for video showing up under the device
manager.
Now that I've said all that I have one problem with word to tack on. Jaws
stops
including braille support after I load a document. It acts like it's
frozen,
but alt-tabbing away then back again gets jaws to properly speak again. Any
one
else noticed this and have a suggestion. I'm sure this happens both when I
open
the document from explorer or via word first. This is on word 2003.

Hello,

I am having display problems with Microsoft word. I can't see the text I'm
typing with JAWS-they look like blank lines, even on my braille display.
When I use arrows to move through the text, I see it fine--but the instant I
start typing it's invisible to JAWS again. Please advise.

Grant
