John,

Over the years some people have said that is necessary, and others have said 
it isn't. I understand the use of Apply in Windows, generally, is simply to 
apply the effect you've chosen temporarily so you can see if you like the 
result. And OK is supposed to confirm your choice and save it. That is how 
I've always understood this.

After you press a letter and before you click OK, you must click APPLY.
