Well, what happens with point 10 is:
(If you do this it should happen to you):
I hit ctrl S to save,
type in say "notes October 20)
shift tab to the folder view and hit m to get to mcollege folder.
Then I hit enter, hit e for English then hit enter,
hit n for notes, but because notes is the first folder and is unselected when I
open the English folder, it goes to a document called "New readings"
Now my "Notes October 20" is called "New readings" and I need to tab back and
type in the name "Notes October 20".
This is very annoying if I'm not sure how to spell the word my document is
titled, or if the title is very long.
Hope this clarifies my question.

Yadiel's solution for point 3 is useful information, but it assumes that
Brandon wants the font type and size to be consistent throughout. This is
unlikely if he's using indented text for quotations in an academic paper.
Absolutely, double asterisks as markers should not be kept in the final version
of a paper.
If you correctly interpret Brandon's point 10, another solution is to open only
one document at a time. This is hardly ideal, but it avoids mental and filename
confusion when the mind is preoccupied with numerous other document questions.
for that reason, I often do just that, and it's been years since I misnamed a
document, thereby losing my data.

Point 3 would be vanquished by formatting the whole document as Sr. Sotomayor
reported.
I would use bookmarks for annotation or footnotes if it is to be more formal.
I believe No. 10 is when you are in the process of saving a document and start
to cursor in the target file. Whatever file name that gains focus will be
reflected as the new file's saved name. One just needs to be more careful in
that dialogue.

I'm going to leave it to others to make suggestions in response to your
specific MS Word questions, since I use another word processor, but a few
thoughts.
Your third concern is about fonts. Undoubtedly the cause is that you are
copying quotations from other sources, such as the Internet. It is important to
clean up any copied passage before pasting it into a Word document. The program
I use is Text Monkey, available at
www.jfwlite.com
I don't know which OS you're using. Text Monkey works on XP. I can't speak
for later operating systems.
As discussed in a previous exchange, Notepad will also strip out codes,
including formatting controls. You might use that application for your initial
paste, then copy the result into your Word document.
for your second concern, open MS word and then look through your insert-v
options.
Some of your points are confusing to me. In your fifth, are you asking about
a template or how to insert works cited within a document so that JAWS will
read it during, for example, say all?
In your seventh point, what exactly are you looking for JAWS to report? I
know I'm at the end of a document when the status line (JAWS key-3) tells me
the page and line number that matches the number for the entire document.
I'm at a loss to answer your ninth point. A double asterisk always works for
me. Could it be that your annotation appears in a different format that
confuses either Word or JAWS? I sometimes encounter something like that.
Finally, I think you need to clarify your tenth point. You talk about the
document name changing while switching between documents. Can you explain step
by step what occurs?

I'm using word 2003.
I'm also wondering if there is any way to get rid of a few problems I've been
having.
First:
in word when I copy and paste a word that is misspelled word freezes up.
Second:
When I copy WebPages or emails into word I have to remember to do that paste
special and even then http links don't work always. Is there a way so ctrl V
always does paste unformatted text in word? (I never have ever needed formatted
text).
Third:
I'm told that sometimes my papers are at least 5 different fonts and sizes.
I'm wondering if there is any way to easily fix this without removing say the
MLA formatted titles or page numbers?
Fourth:
Are there any settings that should be on in word for writing MLA?
Fifth:
where is the best place to make a works sited page done that is very
accessible with Jaws?
Sixth:
is there any way to jump to headings in a word document?
seventh:
sometimes my word doesn't read the last line on the page when I'm writing and
alt tabbing through different windows. When I arrow up it takes like a second
before it starts reading and then when I hit ctrl end I can't confirm I'm
actually at the end of the document.
eighth:
is there any way to easily navigate an e-text book in Word? Jump to pages or
find out what page of the book you are on without having to arrow through the
pages hoping the page numbers are actually there?
And if there are 7 different 34s in the book it can be really hard to find
out which number is the actual page, especially if all of them are at the end
of the lines.
ninth:
Has anyone been able to find a way to efficiently annotate books in a word
document? I've used cymbals such as *~* to mark quotes, but on the find it
doesn't always read the quote it's marking when I go through them.
Tenth:
Does anyone know how to tern off the function that replaces a document's name
in the save feature? If I go over another document when I'm trying to save
something the name I have already typed in the title field gets changed. I hate
this the most about my computer atm... So if this could be fixed it would be a
godsend!
Sorry for all the questions, I've just been thrashing walls trying to answer
many of these questions for the last 3 years and never have found the answers .

Jarte has a nice spell checker but not a thesaurus. However, you can press
control+d on a word to go to the wordweb entry for that word.
Jarte detects screen readers and configures it's interface for blind users.
There is a free version and a low cost paid version. I used the free one for
a long time. Check it out.

Hello,
I was told and found that Notepad works way better with Jaws than Word does.
But I'm writing papers and whatnot in Notepad, but there is no thesaurus
and I don't believe any spellchecker.
Is there any way to beef up Notepad? Or are there any other text editors
that have the features of word?
