Subject: Spybot Won't Install!
Hello All:
I'm helping a client attempt to install Spybot Search and Destroy. I
guided her to www.jfwlite.com, then into programs and then down to the
Spybot Direct Download. She got the executable file downloaded OK. I
had her press enter on the executable, then select English as the setup
language and tab to OK and press space bar. Then, the setup program
comes up and a next button is shown which she presses space bar on.
After that, the Windows XP Bong error sound is heard. She is taken back
to the list of files in My Documents where she had saved the downloaded
executable file for Spybot installation.
We checked in her programs menu and the spybot program is not there. I
had her disable the AVG Resident Shield of her AVG 7.5 antivirus program
and try installing Spybot again, same result.
Has anyone had this problem and if so, what did you do to fix it? Avg
7.5 is the only antivirus she has running, and I can't think what else
she'd have to disable in order to get the computer to let Spybot
install. My client is running JFW Version 8.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
