I am assuming that you are talking about ms word.
Turn spelling and grammar to on + count in the verbosity dialog.

I have just gone from Jaws 3.5 to Jaws 5.1. In jaws 3.5 if there was a
misspelled word on a line jaws would say at the end of the line, "1 spelling
error". It doesn't do this with jaws 5.1 and I was wondering if there is a
