Cy, Not to be argumentative (Judith, please note!), but I believe the Insert Escape keystroke is meant just to conveniently toggle off any increase or decrease in speed you happen to have made using page up and page down, or control page up and control page down, without going through all that again. Think of it like the control on a stereo amplifier or receiver usually called the "flat" position of a switch or knobaround the tone controls, whose function is to set the tonal balance in the preamplifier back to flat, even though you may have turned the treble or the bass up and down. In this sort of case (I'll admit the analogy isn't perfect), this still leaves the tone control adjustments where you put them, so that if you turn off the "flat" control, you'll be returned to these adjustments you made. but you see the basic idea. It's just to turn off the speed changes you made, without having to "turn the knob," so to speak, and listen until it seems normal again.. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cy" <cselfridge@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Saturday, March 12, 2005 9:00 AM Subject: RE: Speeding up jaws on the fly Hmm, Just plain old pgdn and pgup slow down and speed up my JAWS... I do not need the ctrl or alt. Cy, the Ancient okie... -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Milton M. Once you leave the application it goes back to the default speech setting that you have. **************************************** Aloha: Milton M. What I want to know is... Is there a way to make jaws go back to my voice rate=20 settings? It seems that the only way I can get Jaws to reset itself is to alt=20 tab out of that window, then back into it again. If that's how I have to do it, that's fine. I just wondered if there was a key=20 command that brings back my default settings for the reading rate that I have as=20 the default. Thanks.
